Zermatt Hotel Albatros

The Hotel Albatros was built in summer 1998. The construction of the hotel took 7 months, 12 days and some hours (from 7th May to 19th December 1998).

The first task was to take down the old house „Max“ in order to reconstruct it in Mörel (region of Brig). After this work had been done, the building company Sulag AG of Zermatt started with the construction of the hotel. The company worked with the plans from the architect T. Odermatt. It took 9 days in average to build one shade so that the top of the building was reached by the end of July. At the beginning of August the roof was put on top and from that moment on everything developed very fast. All the participating companies had to coordinate their work so that the hotel could be opened by the planned date.

The architect C. Bottoni from Milano, long a friend of the family, decorated the interior of the house and it is he who gave the hotel Albatros its own special charm.

After a lot of stress, a little excitement and strong will the doors of the hotel finally opened on the 19th December 1998. Although on the morning of this so important day neither the reception desk nor the bar were finished, everything was in place when the first guests arrived.
